Reporting directly to the General Manager – Rental Equipment, you will lead safe and efficient rental contract execution across mobilisation, operational delivery, maintenance coordination, fleet readiness, compliance and demobilisation.
This is a residential Port Moresby-based role operating on a family-friendly Monday to Friday roster, making it an attractive opportunity for professionals seeking long-term career growth and lifestyle stability in PNG. Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe and efficient end-to-end rental contract execution from mobilisation through operational delivery, maintenance coordination and demobilisation.
- Ensure fleet reliability, utilisation, compliance and readiness across cranes, generators, compressors, pumps, telehandlers, EWPs, camps and heavy support equipment.
- Coordinate logistics, maintenance activities, inspections and operational resources.
- Act as the primary operational contact for customers during active hires, ensuring clear communication, rapid issue resolution and high service standards throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor and develop operational teams, with a strong focus on developing national employees, succession capability, safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive operational excellence through planning, cost control, equipment performance and process improvement.
- Support business growth through customer engagement, operational expertise and strategic fleet planning.
- Support business growth by understanding the rental sales process, identifying customer opportunities during active hires, and working with the Sales Manager to develop leads into practical rental solutions.

About You
You are an experienced operational leader with a strong background in heavy equipment rentals, mining, construction, oil & gas, logistics or industrial services.
Essential
- Proven experience leading operational teams and managing complex mobilisation, logistics and field operations.
- Strong technical understanding of cranes, generators, compressors, pumps, telehandlers, EWPs, camp assets and heavy support equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance customer outcomes, operational performance and cost control.
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of the rental sales process and the ability to identify customer needs, leads and growth opportunities through day-to-day operational engagement.
- Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Current driver's licence and ability to travel throughout PNG as required.
Highly Regarded
- Understanding of PNG business practices, stakeholder management and cultural environments.
- Trade, technical, engineering or operational qualifications.
- Experience using maintenance or asset management systems (CMMS).
- Candidates with demonstrated PNG experience and established professional networks within PNG will be highly regarded.
