Position Title: Parts Logistics Officer

Location: Head Office – Port Moresby

Division: Boroko Motors

Overview

The Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating with suppliers, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and transport providers to ensure the efficient tracking and delivery of sea freight shipments for the parts operations. This role involves monitoring shipment schedules, managing documentation, and ensuring timely delivery of parts to Boroko Motors’ branches and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with suppliers, shipping companies, and freight forwarders to arrange sea freight
shipments.
- Track shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely delivery and resolving delays.
- Review and manage shipping documentation including bills of lading, customs clearance and freight
invoices.
- Maintain shipment tracking reports and provide updates to management.
- Work closely with the procurement and parts teams to align shipment schedules with operational needs.

- Identify and resolve discrepancies in shipping documentation, delivery schedules, or freight charges.
- Prepare and present logistics performance reports to management.
- Recommend improvements to logistics processes for efficiency and cost savings.
- Cross-train parts personnel to ensure shipment tracking and coordination can continue during absences.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Experience in logistics, shipping coordination, or supply chain management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with suppliers and freight partners.
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Problem-solving ability to manage shipment delays or discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of sea freight operations, customs clearance, and international shipping practices.
- Experience with automotive parts logistics would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Basic to intermediate computer literacy and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
- High school diploma or equivalent, additional education or certification in supply chain or
procurement would be beneficial.
- Minimum five (5) years relevant experience in logistics, shipping coordination, or supply chain
management, preferably in transport, automotive, or related industries.
- Proficient in logistics or inventory procurement software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with at least intermediate level in Excel.
- Knowledge of automotive parts logistics and international shipping practices preferred
