CreditBank PNG is recruiting a suitable candidate for the role of Payments Officer.
We’re looking for a Payments & Settlements Officer to join our team and help ensure smooth, accurate transaction processing across the bank. In this role, you’ll be responsible for handling day-to-day payments and supporting key projects within the banking payments space. If you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to contribute to a high-performing operations team, we’d love to hear from you.
This role is based in Port Moresby & will report to the Team Leader Payments.
Key responsibilities
- Process domestic and international payments and settlements within agreed turnaround times, ensuring all service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Monitor and reconcile transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Authorize payments when required and proactively resolve any operational issues that may arise.
- Support the identification and mitigation of operational risks across the Payments & Settlements function.
- Contribute to projects related to banking payments, including MX message format implementation, system enhancements, and process improvements.
- Maintain organized transaction records and implement systems for efficient document retrieval.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management to support oversight and strategic decision-making.
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in payments, settlements, or a similar role within financial services.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Payments, Treasury Settlements, Cash Management, and Nostro Reconciliations.
- Familiarity with SWIFT MX formats, KATS, and Reps systems.
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Solid analytical skills and experience working with financial systems and operational workflows
This role will require working shifts, on weekends and gazetted public holidays.
