Position Overview:
As our Payroll Supervisor, you will oversee efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll operations. You’ll manage a team, refine processes, and ensure our clients across PNG and the Pacific, receive timely and error-free payroll services. A strong command of PNG payroll regulations is essential, while experience with aPay will be considered a valuable advantage.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the payroll team, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards maintained.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, deductions, benefits, adjustments, and off-cycle payrolls.
- Validate and reconcile payroll outputs, resolving discrepancies swiftly and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure compliance with PNG employment law, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
- Respond to escalated payroll queries, delivering professional, client-centered solutions.
- Partner with HR and finance teams to align payroll activities with broader organisational objectives.
- Identify improvements in payroll procedures, champion efficiencies, and lead change initiatives.
- Produce and present payroll analytics and reports for internal review and client insight.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record as a payroll team leader or supervisor.
- Solid understanding of PNG labour laws, taxation, and payroll compliance standards.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience reconciling complex payroll data and preparing accurate reporting.
- Leadership strengths: coaching, performance management, and team motivation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills—able to explain technical details to non-experts.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational abilities, and integrity in handling confidential payroll data.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with aPay payroll system.
- Experience in HRIS/payroll integrations or system transitions.
- Exposure to large-scale or multi-region payroll environments.
- Professional payroll certification (e.g., CIPP) or equivalent.
