About the role

The Pest controller is responsible for implementing effective pest management activities across the mine site to protect employee health, maintain environmental standards, and ensure compliance with site health, safety, and environmental requirements. The role supports environmental management programs, camp hygiene and public health initiatives at the mine site.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Perform routine and reactive pest control operations across all mine site facilities.
• Identify pest breeding sites and implement preventive measures, supporting broader public health initiatives including malaria control programs.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, EMPs, and SOPs, including the safe handling, storage, application, and disposal of chemicals and pesticides.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting, including activity logs, chemical usage records, inspection findings, and reports for the Environment Department.
• Collaborate with internal teams and respond to pest-related issues, participating in audits, providing awareness training, and addressing complaints promptly and professionally.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have

• Must have a grade 10 or 12 certificates as minimum.
• Have a valid drivers license
• 1 – 2 years’ experience in a mining/industrial industry or hotels and hospitality industry specifically working as pest controller.
• Certificate or recognized training in Pest Control, Environmental Health, or a related discipline
• Training in chemical handling and hazardous substances
• Basic knowledge of environmental protection and occupational health and safety requirements
• Ability to complete operational records and reports
• Physically fit and capable of outdoor and manual work
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
