What you’ll do:
Based in Kutubu, Southern Highlands Province, this field-based role operates on a 28/28-day roster. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you’ll maintain Electrical, Instrumentation, and HVAC equipment along the PNG LNG pipeline and support other Santos assets across PNG, ensuring reliable operations and uninterrupted LNG delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor Electrical, Instrumentation, and HVAC equipment from Hides to Kopi, including valve stations, metering sites, cathodic protection sites, and communication towers.
- Complete planned preventive maintenance and instrumentation installations on schedule.
- Manage work using SAP—raising notifications, closing work orders, and submitting reports.
- Diagnose and fix routine and unexpected maintenance issues quickly.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, ensuring defects are resolved.
- Support the PNG Static team with electrical tasks as needed.
- Direct work for subordinates and contractors.
- Follow Santos’ Management System, Delegation of Authority, governance, and safety requirements.
- Report all safety, environmental, and operational incidents immediately.
What you’ll bring:
You’ll have strong expertise in electrical and instrumentation systems within the oil and gas sector, including interpreting Instrument Loop Drawings, PLC diagrams, P&IDs, and datasheets. You’re experienced in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment, particularly in hazardous environments. Familiarity with fire and gas detection,
fire suppression systems, and basic gas turbine operations is expected. You are proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office, have a strong safety mindset, and work consistently within compliance requirements.
Essential
- Year 12 Certificate
- Technical College Certification in Electrical trades
- Electrical and Refrigeration trade certificate
- Current PNG driver’s licence
- Proven experience in mining or oil and gas industries
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organisational skills
- Proactive, able to work independently and a team player.
