Plumber
The licensed, no-leaks kind
Location: Atlas, Port Moresby
Employment: Full-time, Local Hire
Important: If you do not have proven plumbing experience, a recognised trade qualification, and the required plumbing or drainage licence—or eligibility to obtain one—please do not submit your CV.
Atlas is part of the Kenmore Group of Companies and supports projects across steel fabrication, modular housing, building, and civil works.
We’re looking for an experienced and licensed Plumber to join our Port Moresby team and deliver high-quality plumbing work across Steel Haus modular homes, construction projects, fabrication works, and project sites.
This is not a role for someone who cuts corners, hides leaks, or leaves defects for someone else to fix.
We need someone who can read plans properly, complete accurate rough-ins, install fixtures neatly, test every system, and deliver plumbing work that is compliant, reliable, and ready for handover.
If your experience is limited, this is not the job to practise on.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining water supply, sanitary, drainage, stormwater, and hot-water systems.
That includes setting out and installing cold and hot-water pipework, waste, soil and vent lines, sanitary fixtures, tapware, cisterns, tanks, pumps, and hot-water systems.
You’ll complete rough-ins and fit-offs across steel-framed buildings, modular homes, and active construction sites without compromising structural or waterproofing integrity.
You’ll also install sanitary and stormwater drainage to the correct levels and falls, including trenching, bedding, connections, and backfilling.
Where required, you may work on septic systems, rainwater tanks, on-site wastewater systems, solar hot-water units, and instantaneous hot-water systems.
Every installation must be pressure-tested, leak-tested, commissioned, and completed in line with approved drawings, project specifications, AS/NZS 3500, and applicable PNG building requirements.
You’ll work closely with site supervisors, fabrication teams, electricians, project teams, apprentices, and trade assistants to coordinate work and avoid clashes, delays, and rework.
The expectation is simple: install it properly, test it properly, and leave no defects behind.
Who This Suits
This role suits an experienced, qualified Plumber who takes pride in producing clean, compliant, and handover-ready work.
You should have a recognised plumbing trade qualification and a current PNG plumbing or drainage licence, trade registration, or the ability to obtain one.
You understand plumbing drawings, hydraulic plans, construction specifications, pipework systems, drainage falls, fixture installation, testing, commissioning, and defect rectification.
You should have at least three to five years of post-qualification experience across residential, commercial, modular, or construction plumbing.
Experience working to Australian Standards, particularly AS/NZS 3500, will be highly regarded.
You must be able to work independently, plan your tasks, manage materials, maintain accurate records, and complete work with minimal supervision.
You are reliable, safety-focused, physically capable, and comfortable working on active construction sites, in trenches, confined spaces, at heights, and in tropical conditions.
If people already rely on you to make sure the plumbing is right the first time, this role will feel familiar.
Why You’ll Like Working Here
Atlas is involved in real construction, steel fabrication, modular housing, building, and civil works projects.
You’ll work across a variety of projects where quality workmanship directly affects the finished product and the reputation of the business.
This is a role where good tradespeople are valued, safety is taken seriously, and defect-free work matters.
There may also be opportunities to travel to Lae and other project sites as required.
How to Apply
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I install it properly and leave no leaks behind,” then we want to hear from you.
