JOB DESCRIPTION

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager – Human Resources with a dotted line to the Manager – Programmes, the Project Manager – HR Systems will be responsible for planning and executing HR projects. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. This is a 12-month fixed term position requiring on-site presence in Papua New Guinea, with regular travel between the site and Cairns, Australia, where Barrick’s charter plane operates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Management:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing.
    • Lead the planning and implementation of HR projects.
    • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
    • Manage project resource allocation and timeline.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure clear project expectations and deliverables.
    • Act as the point of contact for HR projects and maintain thorough communication with stakeholders on project status.
    • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction by delivering projects on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Direct and manage project team members, contractors and third-party consultants.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment.
    • Conduct project post-mortems and create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and manage project risks and issues.
    • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
    • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any potential delays or issues.
  • Implementation and Delivery:
    • Ensure the successful implementation of HCM applications,
    • Coordinate with IT and HR departments to ensure smooth integration and adoption of new applications.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Project Management, or a related field. (optional)
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably within HR or IT environments.
  • Mining industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • Understanding of HR processes and systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in project management software tools such as MS Project, JIRA, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
