The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the position of Senior Advisor – Economic, Livelihood & Business Programs
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Advisor – Economic, Livelihood & Business Programs
to lead the design, coordination, and delivery of NPL’s integrated development portfolio across economic growth, livelihoods, and enterprise development. This is a key role supporting the implementation of the Community Development Plan and broadening national content objectives.
This role requires close collaboration with community stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners to ensure that programs in agriculture, vocational skills, financial literacy, WASH, and SME support deliver measurable, sustainable outcomes aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In this role, you will.
- Lead planning and execution of economic, livelihood, and business development programs, including agriculture, vocational training, financial literacy, WASH, and enterprise support.
- Coordinate and deliver quick initiatives that align with immediate community priorities.
- Ensure full alignment with the Community Development Plan and the outputs of Community Development Committees (CDCs).
- Facilitate the establishment of CDCs including governance structures and membership including facilitating meetings and forward programs.
- Manage and mentor a small team of program officers to deliver on KPIs and ensure disciplined program execution.
- Support program baseline assessments, midline reviews, and internal audits.
- Ensure all initiatives are tracked against SDG-aligned indicators and contribute to meeting defined SDG targets.
- Liaise with service providers, NGOs, government partners, and other external stakeholders.
- Lead reporting and performance monitoring using approved tools and contribute to quarterly and annual reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience designing and managing economic or enterprise programs
- Strong understanding of rural economies, market systems, business development, and community planning.
- Demonstrated ability to apply structured discipline to plan execution and reporting.
- Experience in managing WASH or agriculture-focused programs and integrating with health and education pillars.
- Familiarity with SDG frameworks, program baselining, and results-based management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data collection tools.
- Skilled in facilitation, reporting, and partnership coordination.
- Proficiency in Borealis, Power BI, Microsoft Office and familiarity with data collection tools.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
