Job Description
The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for Engineer, Senior Mine Engineering Service Underground (228450).
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Engineering Services, the Senior Mine Engineering Services Underground supervises the Underground Mine Production Engineering team comprising of production, projects, dispatch, back fill engineers and graduates to enable the development of and achievement of 2- weekly and 13- week plans. These plans must be realistic, achievable, approved by Underground Operations and meet the requirements of Medium and Long Term Plans. The Senior Mine Engineering Services Underground is then responsible for ensuring that Underground Operations are provided with all the required daily plans and tracking reports that assist them to comply with the plans. They are also responsible for the reporting of the underground mine performance to all required stakeholders.
About you
The ideal candidate must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
- Significant mine engineering experience (>5 years), and worked at senior level in underground production role
- Experience in drill and blast engineering.
- Experience in 2 weekly scheduling in Underground mine
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
- High-level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in PNG
- Knowledge of underground mining technology and heavy production equipment.
- Planning experience desirable
- Dewatering and water management experience desirable
- Ventilation experience desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Working to the 2-weekly and 13-week plan, ensure that all aspects relating to the plan, such as production, projects, dispatch and back fill engineering are completed so that the underground Mine Production team are able to achieve the required outcomes.
- Obtain sufficient ongoing knowledge of the underground mine and operations to effectively communicate and manage the production plans.
- Collect and analyze information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements, systems efficiencies and business improvement initiatives. Recommend systems improvements.
- Assist the Superintendent – Mine Engineering Services with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
- Mentor and develop young engineers to ensure that professional standards and attitudes are adopted.
- Provide support to the Underground manager’s and Superintendents to achieve the 2-weekly plan.
- Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site.
- Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- Rotation is FIFO, 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must have an up-to-date Police Clearance certificate (Acquired within the last 6 months)
- A ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
