The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Foreman – Communication Mining Technology.

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Underground Electrical, the Foreman – Communication Mining Technology is responsible for leading the underground Mining Technology team. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and availability of critical communication systems, essential for safe and efficient mining operations.

The successful candidate will ensure all work complies with site safety standards, procedures, and statutory requirements. You will promote a proactive safety culture while ensuring communication systems are fully integrated and optimized to support operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the underground Mining Technology team to safely meet planned maintenance and operational targets.
• Maintain high availability and performance of all underground communication and mining technology systems.
• Plan and execute preventative and corrective maintenance; assist in developing long-term maintenance strategies.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance regarding underground infrastructure, modular mining dispatch systems, and tele-remote networks.
• Commission and optimize new communication and mining technology systems.
• Manage IP addressing, network configurations, and connectivity to ensure consistent system performance.
• Maintain accurate records of team activities and ensure strict adherence to all NPL Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need;

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Trade qualification or significant experience in mining communication and technology systems.
• Proven leadership experience in an underground mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Technical proficiency with underground systems (leaky feeder, fiber optics, radio, and networks).
• Experience with fleet management, tele-remote, or automation systems (highly regarded).
• Sound understanding of preventative maintenance and reliability principles.
• Experience in using Maintenance Management Systems (SAP preferred).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
• Valid PNG Class 3 or 6 Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Site LV Driving Permit.

Mobilization Requirement

• This is a PNG National position.
• Site-based, FIFO arrangement (21 days on / 14 days off).
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical (including drug/alcohol screening) and provide a Police Clearance Certificate (issued within the last 6 months).
• Must be a PNG National available for an immediate start. Females are strongly encouraged to apply.
