We currently have an immediate vacancy for a Powerhouse Technician to join our already strong and vibrant engineering team in Lae. Reporting to the Utilities Manager, this role ensures the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation, maintenance, and repair of the plant's utility and power generation systems, including boilers, generators, air compressors, water treatment facilities, and associated equipment. The Powerhouse Technician is responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of the powerhouse to provide continuous electricity and utility services that support manufacturing and industrial operations while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Making Safety Work and Hygiene practices as a daily HABBIT at Workplace
• Always maintain Self-Hygiene, workplace Housekeeping at respective workstations
• Following through and executes the Permit To Work procedure system & advising others to work Safely.
• Taking part in Safety talk/walks (Lead observations) and report any safety findings (Hazard).
• Ensure 100% compliance on any LOTO Procedure.
2. Drive “Teamwork” practice in our working environment.
• Communication is very important – Provide clear, accurate & timely information/feedback to all those concerned
• Attend Daily & weekly Team meetings (Toolbox, engineering work orders and others).
• Attend scheduled training and organised team activities such as Stock take
• Be Familiarize & be competent in allocated equipment/production process
• Assist wherever applicable – have the flexibility to help others in needs & teach others
3. Execution of the Powerhouse generator Operation & Daily Monitoring Condition Process – On time in Full
• Execute Generator Operation tasks and provide feedback in timely manner.

4. Follow up on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

5. Executing PM plans as per procedure and provide findings (Spare Parts Details)

6. Required to monitor/Cover production lines as per overall production plans

• Continuous operation of mechanical and electrical systems by performing routine inspection and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
• Maintain system by scheduling regular inspections, cleaning, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally, identify and repair or replace components.
• Execute Breakdown escalation process in timely manner
• Responsible for collecting and providing breakdown reports to team
• Take part in breakdown analysis

QUALIFICATION/ EXPERIENCE

• Electrical Engineering Degree/Diploma/Certificate
• Minimum 3 year of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated success in a similar level position within the FMCG industries.
• Previous experience in Generator operation in a manufacturing set-up
• Deep understanding with Generator Operation
• Possess good Genset troubleshooting skills
