Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Pricing Analyst for our Finance Department. The incumbent’s primary purpose is to analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and supply costs to develop and execute product pricing strategies that optimize the profitability of Islands Petroleum. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will monitor market fluctuations, use data analytics to adjust pricing models, collaborate with sales teams, and report on performance. Key responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, making pricing decisions, and forecasting the effects of pricing changes.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Pricing – customer pricing, tender pricing and ICCC monthly system price change.
• Discounts – customer discounts and product discounts
• Margin – Analysis and Reporting
• Pricing strategy - Develop and execute retail fuel pricing strategies to maximize profitability, often setting prices across multiple locations.
• Market monitoring - Track product costs, competitor pricing, and economic indicators to stay ahead of market volatility.
• Performance reporting - Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on product margin and volume performance for management and sales teams.
• Collaboration - Work with sales and operations teams to coordinate pricing, ensure system compliance, and implement best practices.

Candidate Requirements

The person we seek must have the following:

• Analytical Thinking & Problem-Solving - The ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
• Financial Acumen - Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and pricing principles.
• Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively, collaborate with different functions along with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
• Project Management - The ability to plan, execute, and manage projects efficiently to deliver desired results.
• Attention to Detail – A high level of attention to detail required to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with any associated requirements.
• Organizational Skills - Ability to manage multiple tasks, develop systems for monitoring and evaluation, and maintain accurate records.
• Analytical Skills – ability to identify potential risks, assess performance, and resolve issues.
• Professional Experience – At least 5 years professional experience working in wholesale or other pricing experience.
• Professional Qualification – Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business Management or an or a related field.
