Family Health International (FHI 360) is a United States-based, non-profit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in more than forty countries worldwide. In Papua New Guinea (PNG), FHI 360 works with local and international partners to deliver high-quality and innovative interventions in the areas of HIV/AIDS, global health security, health system strengthening, digital health and violence prevention, with funding support from the United States Government (USG), the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the World Bank and other partners. FHI 360 is currently working in partnership with the National Department of Health (NDoH), along with other technical partners, to support improved health outcomes for the people of Papua New Guinea.

FHI360, is therefore, seeking qualified candidates for the following short-term positions:

PROGRAM OFFICER, SHORT TERM CONSULTANT, HIV SUPPORT PROGRAM

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Provides technical support on HIV care and treatment including onsite mentoring/coaching and guidance to HIV service providers and technical staff of civil society organizations in NCD.
• Provides direct mentoring support to HIV care and treatment sites to implement national SOPs, protocols and guidelines for HIV care and treatment services, including access to viral load testing.
• Implements and monitors HIV related technical strengthening initiatives.
• Ensures project implementation adheres to the national strategy and remains technically sound.
• Creates scientific and technical materials to guide the implementation of HIV care and treatment and STI services.
• Works with clinics and partners to maximize local capacity. • Monitors and evaluates programmatic effectiveness and provides technical assessment reports.
• Develops or writes technical briefs, reports, papers summarizing project results

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with technical support for implementation of STI and HIV care and treatment services.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.
• Ability to solve problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT STANDARD

• MD or bachelor’s degree in health Extension or Nursing.
• Diploma Health Extension or Nursing, if backed by adequate sufficient years of experience in clinical experience in STI management and HIV, care and treatment.
• 3-5 years of clinical and or public health experience in HIV care and treatment services, including providing mentoring support for health care workers.
• Familiarity with the PNG national guidelines, protocols and clinical tools related to STI and HIV care and treatment services
• Able to read, write, and speak fluent English (and Tok Pisin).
• Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or government agencies in the health sector.
