POSITION VACANCY: PROJECT ENGINEER

Reinhold Engineering and Group of Companies Limited is a nationally owned civil works and building construction company based in Port Moresby. As we continue to grow and strengthen our operations across Papua New Guinea, we are seeking a capable and experienced Project Engineer to coordinate and oversee the technical delivery of our construction projects.

About the Role

The Project Engineer will oversee the day-to-day technical execution of construction and engineering projects. This includes translating approved engineering designs into practical site plans, managing resources and ensuring works comply with specifications, applicable codes and regulatory requirements.

The successful applicant will maintain project progress, resolve on-site technical challenges and coordinate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor project timelines, milestones and critical paths to ensure on-schedule delivery.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring work complies with contract documents and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with engineering specifications, applicable building codes and safety requirements.
• Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings, client reviews and site progress meetings.
• Communicate effectively with internal project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.
• Review and process technical submittals, shop drawings and requests for information (RFIs).
• Implement and enforce site safety protocols and quality control procedures.
• Provide practical technical guidance and problem-solving support to resolve construction and engineering issues.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photographs and as-built drawings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Three to five years of proven experience in a project engineering or assistant project management role within the construction or heavy industrial sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and direct-hire workforces.

Key Competencies

• Strong technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and coordinate teams in a demanding project environment.
• Sound understanding of applicable construction safety requirements and quality assurance and quality control processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address site challenges proactively.
