Project Superintendent

Reporting to: Project Manager-PNG
Are you an experienced, highly capable technician who enjoys being close to work-but is ready to step beyond the tools and have a greater influence on how projects are delivered?
We are seeking a Project Superintendent to operate at the interface between Production and Management coordinating multiple industrial projects while providing strong technical leadership to supervisors and trades teams. This role is ideally suited to a well-established tradesperson looking to transition into broader operational role without losing touch with the technical detail.
Role balance:
- ~80% managing and driving project progress across workshop and site operations
- ~20% administration, reporting, job tracking, and quote preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee multiple concurrent projects across workshop and on-site operations.
- Plan job sequencing, labour allocation, materials, and workflow to meet delivery deadlines
- Provide technical leadership and practical problem -solving support to Team Supervisors.
- Act as the primary link between the shop floor and Projects Management.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement practical corrective actions.
- Prepare projects updates, progress reports, job documentation, and input into questions.
- Drive quality assurance, continuous improvement, and accurate job close-out documentation.
- Promote and maintain strong Health, Safety, and wellbeing standards.
Requirements:
- Trade-qualified technician with a strong hydraulic, mechanical, and/ or electrical background.
- 4 + years post trade experience in workshop, industrial, or project-based environments
- Demonstrate leadership or coordination, and reporting responsibility
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple jobs and prioritise simultaneously
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively from shop floor to management
- Commercially aware, with an interest in job tracking, reporting, and basic cost control
- Computer-literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining high professional standards
- Able to pass medical and D&A screening
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Welding and machining skills
- Experince with materials handling, equipment movement, and logistics coordination
- Strong fault-finding and practical problem -solving capability
