Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.
We are currently seeking for a Project Supervisor to join our Engineering team to be based at our Lae Depot in Lae, Morobe Province.
The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the incumbent will develop, control, review and supervise projects of various sizes, values and complexity and ensuring the delivery of these projects to stringent timelines, quality & making sure the Health & Safety aspects are followed.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Arrange resources to meet project plans and manage changes to projects.
- Monitoring the progress of the project and provide timely and accurate reports on project performance to the lead engineer.
- Focus on continuous improvement to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Train staff on job duties, safety procedures, and company policy and ensure all
- safety protocols and quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Order materials and supplies.
- Planning daily work schedules and assigning tasks to appropriate project officers.
- Recommend staffing actions such as hiring and promotions
- May also supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of project workers, labourers or other workers
- Solving on-site problems and providing technical advice.
- Maintaining records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
- Conducting regular inspections and risk assessments to mitigate any potential hazards.
- To maintain a continuous improvement, focus on projects in order to reduce future project costs and increase efficiency.
- Project Management: On time delivery, scope adherence and cost management
- Leadership: Manage team productivity and conflict resolution
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and best practice.
Candidate Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a related field may be preferred.
- Additional certifications in management, safety, and specific technical skills can also be beneficial.
- 5+ Years experience in construction or project supervision.
- Strong understanding of industry practices, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency response.
- Good time management
- Attention to details
- Ability to plan, manage and execute projects in line with customer expectations.
- Well-organized and adaptable
- Communication skills
- Technical Competency
