Projects Operations Manager

The Organisation:

Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-driven Project Operations Manager to lead and coordinate our project activities. In this role, the Project Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing project operations, including planning, implementation, financial management, monitoring, and reporting. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required quality and compliance standards, while managing contractors and coordinating stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related Field.
  • Proven experience minimum 2 years in project operations, coordination, or infrastructure/project-related roles (including experience managing project finances, budget, and reporting).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Project management knowledge – understanding of project planning, implementation, and operational processes.
  • Financial management skills – ability to manage budgets, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
  • Contractor & stakeholder management – coordinating contractors, consultants, and internal/external stakeholders effectively.
  • Monitoring and reporting skills – preparing progress, operational, and financial reports with strong documentation practices.
  • Communication & organisational skills – strong written, verbal, and coordination abilities, including use of tools like Microsoft Excel.
  • Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive project success in a fast-paced environment.
