Position Title: Projects Purchasing Officer
Department: Projects / Supply Chain
Reports To: Purchasing Manager / Project Controls Manager
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Position Summary
The Projects Purchasing Officer is responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment, subcontracted services, and logistics required to support MTIS Group’s project development and execution activities in the oil, gas, and mining sectors.
The role ensures that project purchasing activities are conducted in accordance with approved budgets, schedules, company procurement procedures, and client requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process project-related purchase requisitions in line with approved project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Source suppliers and service providers and obtain competitive quotations for project materials and services
- Prepare and issue purchase orders within the ERP system, ensuring correct project cost code allocation
- Coordinate procurement activities with Project Managers, Engineering, Construction, and Warehouse teams
- Monitor supplier performance and expedite deliveries to meet project timelines
- Coordinate logistics, freight, and site deliveries as required
- Reconcile purchase orders, delivery documentation, and supplier invoices
- Maintain accurate procurement records and project documentation
- Assist in resolving supplier, delivery, or commercial discrepancies impacting projects
- Ensure compliance with MTIS Group procurement procedures and applicable client standards
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ purchasing or procurement experience
- Experience in project-based industries such as oil & gas, mining, construction, or industrial services preferred
- Experience using ERP systems for purchasing and cost tracking
- Knowledge of industrial materials, equipment, or site services is an advantage

- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Sound problem-solving ability

- Office-based role in Port Moresby
- Standard business hours with flexibility to support project requirements
- Regular interaction with internal project teams and external suppliers
