QUALITY CONTROL FOR 2-PIECE CAN PRODUCTION-LAE BASE

International Food Corporation ltd, the leading manufacture of Besta Mackerel and Tuna products in PNG and South Pacific seeking to recruit highly motivated and qualified experience individual to fill the position of Quality Control for 2-Piece Can Production.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The Quality Control for 2-Piece Can Production is responsible to ensuring that all cans meet quality standards and specifications through thorough inspections, testing, and process monitoring.

Key JOB Responsibilities

1. Quality Inspection & Testing:

• Conduct in-process and final inspections of 2-piece cans to ensure they meet dimensional, visual, and functional specifications.
• Perform quality tests such as wall thickness, diameter, height, internal pressure, and coating integrity.
• Use measuring tools like micrometres, callipers, and seam gauges to verify compliance with standards.

2. Process Monitoring & Defect Identification:

• Monitor production lines for deviations and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
• Identify and document defects such as dents, scratches, pinholes, misprints, or coating irregularities.
• Work closely with machine operators and maintenance teams to address quality issues at the source.

3. Compliance & Documentation:

• Maintain accurate quality control records, test results, and inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in audits and assist in preparing documentation for quality certifications.

4. Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement:

• Investigate non-conformities and work with the production team to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
• Support initiatives such as Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and other quality enhancement programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal packaging or 2-piece can production.
• Strong understanding of quality inspection methods, testing procedures, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometres, and vision inspection systems.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify defects accurately.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work shifts and in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in can-making or metal packaging industries.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, HACCP, or GMP quality systems.
• Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and data
