Summer Institute of Linguistics Papua New Guinea (SIL-PNG) is advertising the Radio/Solar/Electronics Technician role and looking for someone who wants a challenge and change of scenery to live in Ukarumpa, Kainantu and become part of a dynamic team supporting the work of Bible Translation. The person we are seeking must be highly skilled and motivated professional who will be responsible for repairing, maintaining and providing technical support for radio, solar and other electronic systems essential for field communications and operations.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 education completion with a Certificate III or IV or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic recognized institution
• At least 2-3 years’ work experience in electronics, radio communications or a related technical field.
• Experience in cross-cultural environments, preferably in an NGO or faith-based organization.
• Must be registered under the Apprenticeship Board unless already certified as a Tradesman.
• Knowledge and practical experience in maintaining communication transceivers, solar systems, amplifiers ,UPS, and similar electronic equipment
• Experiences in building and troubleshooting electronic devices and equipment.
• Valid Amateur Radio License (or willingness to obtain one) is an advantage.
• Solar power system installation and maintenance experience is desirable.
• Ability to use computer-based radio programming software.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
