Regional Development Coordinator – North Fly

The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is the legal entity that manages community development benefits from Ok Tedi Mine operations on behalf of the people of the 158 Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages. OTDF is a safe, professional and innovative organisation that delivers projects to communities through a unique partnership between mining, the people and the government. OTDF is mandated to ensure wise and sustainable use of the wealth created from mining operations for the betterment of future generations of Western Province.

OTDF has one (1) current vacancy and seeks to engage dynamic, competent and qualified persons to be part of the team that is delivering development outcomes for the communities of Western Province.   • Regional Development Coordinator – North Fly: Reporting to the Team Leader – Regional Development, this role coordinates and facilitates the operations of the Kiunga Field Base Team including the implementation of short to long-term strategies geared towards achieving OTDF’s goals and objectives including meeting the development aspirations of the North Fly CMCA communities in Western Province.

Tasks will include:

  • Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of all logistic requirements in the implementation of Livelihood Development Packages and other sectional programs, including the supervision of staff at the field base.
  • Provide input to the coordination of Project implementation, data collection and submission for monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with other departments and sections within OTDF.
  • Responsible for the overall coordination and management of Village Planning Committees (VPC) through effective and efficient implementation and delivery of community projects/programs, regular engagement by conducting VPC meetings and attend Trust Board meetings.
  • Maintain close working relationship with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, CMCA communities, Provincial and Local Level Governments, NGO’s, and aid donors in addressing socio - economic sustainable development issues.
  • Coordinate and implement OTDF’s five year Food security program in the North Fly CMCA region
  • Prepare and submit an annual capital and operating budget against program implementation plans for the Programs Services Operation function
  • Manage the expenditure of approved budget so as to meet objectives and to ensure annual budget allocation is not exceeded.
  • Assist Team Leader – Regional Development in aligning annual work plans and program targets with OTDF’s 2021 – 2025 Strategic plan and contribute towards achieving its goals and objectives.
  • Effectively manage, keep track and be accountable to all field base assets and operational requirements including field base upkeep and housekeeping.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science, Natural Resource Management, Communication for Development
  • Sound knowledge in Project Management.
  • Competent user of Microsoft office applications
  • Effective communication skills desired
  • Able to work remotely and independently
  • Must Have a current Class 6 drivers Licence
