Our client, a leading organisation in the energy and retail sector, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Retail Executive to oversee retail network performance across the Southern Region. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, optimising retail partner performance, enhancing the customer experience, and expanding complementary revenue streams in a highly competitive market.
The Role
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of retail sites to ensure operational and commercial excellence. You will drive compliance with HSEQ standards, optimise sales performance, and implement effective marketing and customer service strategies. As a key commercial driver, you will manage commercial agreements, oversee credit control, analyse market activity, and identify opportunities to maximise revenue across the retail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee retail network performance across the region, managing a portfolio of retail sites and driving sales performance across multiple product and service categories.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the retail network, ensuring retail partners, staff and contractors comply with HSEQ policies, procedures and standards.
- Manage the commercial aspects of retail partner agreements, including analysing forecast and actual profit and loss performance, monitoring monthly sales against targets, and managing credit and payment terms.
- Develop and implement local marketing initiatives to increase customer traffic, train retail partners on operational standards, and foster a customer-focused service culture to achieve annual targets.
- Identify and negotiate opportunities to maximise revenue through complementary retail services and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct market analysis to monitor competitor activity, support commercial business growth, and participate in retail partner recruitment initiatives.
- Monitor inventory and operational performance, manage environmental risks, and ensure contractual compliance across the retail network.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, commerce or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years' experience in account management, preferably within the retail, oil and gas, or FMCG sectors.
- Strong technical skills in account management, credit control, contract compliance, and financial analysis, including profit and loss reporting and sales performance reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in sales and marketing initiatives, customer service monitoring, and retail partner training.
- Familiarity with HSEQ compliance. Knowledge of HACCP or food hygiene standards will be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Professional working proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Tok Pisin will be an advantage.
