REVENUE ACCOUNTING MANAGER
PNG Air is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Revenue Accounting Manager to join its Finance Department based in Port Moresby.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for the integrity, completeness and accuracy of all scheduled passenger (RPT) revenue recognized by PNG Air. The role ensures all passenger, charter, freight, ancillary and interline revenues are accurately accounted for in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), company policies and aviation industry best practice.
The position leads the Revenue Accounting team and is responsible for ensuring timely month-end revenue close, reconciliation of passenger revenue systems, minimizing revenue leakage, strengthening internal controls and delivering meaningful financial information to management to support commercial and operational decision making.
The Revenue Accounting Manager acts as the finance custodian of airline revenue and works closely with Commercial, Sales, Airport Operations, Digital, Call Centre, Finance, Treasury, IT and external service providers to ensure the Company's revenue streams are accurately recorded and protected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue Accounting
- Manage the end-to-end passenger revenue accounting function.
- Ensure timely and accurate recognition of passenger, charter, freight ancillary and related revenues.
- Review and approve revenue journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and aviation industry standards.
Revenue Controls & Reconciliations
- Oversee reconciliation of revenue systems, banking settlements and the General Ledger.
- Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies and unreconciled items.
- Strengthen internal controls to minimise revenue leakage and financial risk.
Financial Reporting
- Deliver timely monthly revenue reports and management analysis.
- Monitor revenue trends, key performance indicators and operational impacts.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support implementation and enhancement of revenue accounting systems.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency.
- Participate in system testing and implementation of new airline technology.
Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop the Revenue Accounting team.
- Allocate work, monitor performance and foster continuous improvement.
- Promote collaboration across Finance and operational departments.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Commercial, Sales, Operations, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, IT, Internal Audit and external service providers.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Provide technical advice on revenue accounting matters.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- Qualified PNG CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Minimum three years' experience in revenue accounting, financial accounting or a similar finance management role.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the aviation industry.
- Knowledge of airline Passenger Service Systems (PSS), Revenue Accounting Systems and IATA processes.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Sage or equivalent.
