About the Role:

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Safety Advisor join our Safety Department team based in Port Moresby.

This role primarily exists coordinate all aspects of OHS at Business Centre/Site level, ensuring continuing compliance with Company standards and current legislation and regulation.

Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, PNG & Solomon Island, your competency, and experience will include:

• Ensure safety goals are achieved through personal commitment, no harm to self or others and participation in safety initiatives.
• Ensure business direction, team purpose, and change agenda is understood, agreed to and work activities are aligned.
• Proactively seek and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and manager to deliver results.
• Provide advice and assistance to facilitate a safe working environment and ensure that all work practices are in accordance with Company policy and recognized and legislated OH&S regulations and procedures.
• Coordinate accident/incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
• Coordinate Workplace Rehabilitation Program for injured employees to ensure best recovery and premium minimization.
• Ensure environmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Assist in the inductions and training of employees in compliance with site and Company requirements and legislation and record and maintain in appropriate registers and report.

About You:

• Must have Grade 12 school certificate.
• Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or National Certificate 2 in Training and Assessment
• Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator qualifications
• ICAM or recognized root cause analyses qualifications.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role.
• Previous exposure to mining/heavy equipment industries and the legislation and regulations they operate within.
• Incident investigation and reporting experience.
• Experience in undertaking safety incident investigations with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
