Tabubil Engineering Limited is a major contractor to Ok Tedi Mining Ltd in Western Province of Papua New Guinea. The company now has an immediate vacancy for a suitably qualified person for:

Safety Officer

Responsibilities:

• Recommend effective preventative actions in all areas of work including reporting of all incidents and near misses to the safety manager.
• Conduct ICAM Investigation when incident or accident arise.
• Develop JSA, SWP and SOP
• Engage with operational staff to identify high risk activities and OHS support.
• Provide subject matter expertise in Safety, Emergency Response and OHS training execution.
• Ensure thorough site compliance including work permits by performing regular audits and investigations and root case analysis.
• Conduct site & Internal inductions, including pre-starts and toolbox talks.
• Conduct weekly & monthly inspections.
• Compile weekly safety performance report.

The successful applicant must possess the following attributes:

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an equivalent Health and Safety officer role ideally in Mining. Other Heavy Industries at Safety officer level would be considered also.
• Previous site-based experience is highly desirable.
• Grade 10 -12 certificate
• Certificate 1-4 in Occupational Health and Safety
• Must have fair knowledge of JSA, SWP & SOP
• A desire to be hands-on with a "can-do" attitude.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Recognized qualification in ICAM incident investigation highly desirable.
• Excellent Leadership and communication skills
• Must have a current class 1-6 PNG Driver’s License.
• Must have proof of current completed medical & police clearance certificate.
• Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
