Safety Officer

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to promote a safe and healthy workplace by ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company safety standards. The ideal candidate is committed to preventing workplace accidents, conducting safety inspections, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification.
• Investigate workplace incidents and prepare reports with corrective actions.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and employee safety training.
• Ensure compliance with relevant occupational health and safety legislation.
• Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.
• Recommend and implement measures to improve workplace safety.
• Coordinate emergency response preparedness and first aid arrangements.

Qualifications

• Certificate or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
• NEBOSH Certification (required).
• Valid First Aid Training/Certification (required).
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk management.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
