Safety Specialist Reporting

An opportunity has risen within the Corporate Safety Quality & Risk Division for an experienced Safety Specialist Reporting. This position will functionally report to the Manager Safety Systems and operationally reports to the GM Safety Quality & Compliance.

The Safety Specialist Reporting will be responsible for the following key duties;

In regards to Safety

  • Recognizingsafety as a core value in all decision making in their area of responsibility
  • Fostering a positive safety culture within their area of responsibility and by personal example, demonstrating a commitment to the company safety policy
  • Take personal responsibility for safety

In regards to Safety Management System (SMS)

  • On a daily basis (excluding weekends); collecting written reports from drop boxes, extracting reports from the Safety Systems Outlook Mailbox and importing them into the SMS for processing
  • Ensure that an automated report is generated for the Daily Assessment Team to process occurrence reports at the meeting for classification, assignment and risk rating
  • Immediately referring occurrences reports to the Manager Safety Systems where urgent action appears justified
  • Determining what occurrences are notifiable according to CASA Part 12, recording the Part 12 criteria in the SMS, and sending notification to AIC, CASA PNG and other regulatory agencies as applicable
  • Processing reports in the SMS and in liaison with the Safety Systems Team, raising assessments and investigations and assigning them to owner departments
  • Ensure that an automated Occurrence Summary report is generated weekly and sent to the members of the Daily assessment Team

In regards to Compliance

  • Submitting completed investigation reports to AIC, CASA PNG and any other applicable Regulatory body, ensuring the prescribed period for reporting is complied with
  • Participating in Safety & Quality Action Group & Review Board meetings

For your application to be competitive, you will have relevant qualification with previous experience in a similar role including having the following key attributes;

  • Lead Auditor Certificate
  • Safety Investigator Certificate*
  • PNG Air Safety Management System Training Level 3*
  • PNG Air Quality Management System Training Level 3*
  • Formal qualification as an trainer*
  • 3 years of experience in a corporate work environment or 2 years in an aviation organization.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification of a Diploma or above
  • Formal competence in IT
