POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sales Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring Oceania Distributors Ltd products are effectively displayed, merchandised, and readily available across customer outlets within the assigned territory. The role focuses on maintaining high merchandising standards, supporting sales growth, building strong customer relationships, monitoring stock availability, and executing promotional activities to maximise product visibility and enhance the company's market presence.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure products are merchandised and displayed in accordance with company standards to maximise visibility and sales.
  • Maintain stock availability, pricing accuracy, promotional displays, and product presentation across assigned customer outlets.
  • Monitor inventory using FIFO principles and report stock shortages or product issues promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, store managers, and retail staff.
  • Support product launches, promotions, and merchandising campaigns to drive sales growth.
  • Conduct scheduled customer visits, provide market and competitor feedback, and maintain accurate merchandising records.
  • Assist the sales team in achieving sales, distribution, and customer service objectives within the assigned territory.
  • Travel within the assigned territory, including outstation locations, as required.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in merchandising, sales support, retail operations, or a similar role.
  • Experience within the FMCG, wholesale, retail, or distribution industry will be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of merchandising principles, retail display standards, and inventory rotation practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and prioritise field activities effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Lae market and experience servicing provincial or outstation locations will be highly regarded.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and a valid Driving License will be an advantage.
