The Company
Our client is a leading provider of energy services, with a focus on remote field operations and logistics. Their specialisations include supporting drilling and well workovers, as well as managing material handling and camp facilities. They also offer a range of essential rental equipment, such as cranes and vehicles, along with site access solutions for challenging environments.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant within the finance team, you will play a key role in managing the general ledger and ensuring its accuracy. You will also be responsible for accounting for intercompany transactions, including any foreign exchange movements. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in operational accounting, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a simple, accurate and reconciled general ledger, and support robust accounting system processes.
- Manage monthly accruals, financial reporting, and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
- Ensure GST/tax compliance (PNG & Singapore), including withholding taxes.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities and liaise with auditors.
- Conduct variance analysis for EOM to ensure nothing has been missed in reporting.
- Work with the operational team to ensure CAPEX is capitalised on time and correctly.
- Deliver actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen internal controls, monitor risks, and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
- Own the GL system and ensure EOM tasks in the system are completed (e.g. FX revaluation).
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in financial reporting is required. Experience within a heavy industry is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated experience in applying IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), FX translation, and managing intercompany transactions.
- Proficiency with mid-sized accounting systems like Navision or MYOB Enterprise is beneficial.
- Strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
