Due to significant growth in the firm and increasing demand for our services, we are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Accountant who is willing to develop and grow with the firm and contribute to the continued delivery of high-quality client service.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will deliver high-quality accounting and tax services, supervise junior staff, and ensure compliance with PNG accounting, taxation, and statutory standards. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and client relationship management skills.
Reports to: Managing Partner / Senior Manager
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with IFRS and PNG standards.
- Prepare and lodge tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Process journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including IPA filings and Companies Act obligations.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
- Collaborate with managers and partners on client engagements.
- Provide advisory support on accounting, tax, and compliance matters.
- Liaise directly with clients, addressing queries and maintaining strong relationships.
- Assist with audit preparation and support external auditors.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices.
- Ensure compliance with AML/CTF obligations where applicable.
- Utilize Xero, MYOB, or similar accounting software.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- CPA PNG qualified or near-qualified with active membership or eligibility.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Senior Accountant role (commercial or firm).
- Strong knowledge of PNG taxation laws , IFRS and Statutory Complaince requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, etc.) and microsoft excel.
- Demonstrated experiencing supervising and mentoring staff
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication and client relationship skills.
