Senior Accountant

TotalEnergies Marketing PNG Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and highly experienced individuals for the position of Senior Accountant. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and Group requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Managing month-end and year-end closing activities in line with strict deadlines
• Maintaining balance sheet integrity through detailed reconciliations and analysis
• Reviewing and posting accruals and provisions in SAP

Tax & Compliance

• Preparing and lodging tax returns (GST, SWT, BPT, WHT) in compliance with PNG regulations
• Ensuring adherence to Group policies and statutory requirements
• Supporting internal and external audits

Intercompany & Treasury

• Performing monthly intercompany reconciliations with Group entities
• Reviewing bank reconciliations and ensuring timely clearance of all outstanding items

Fixed Assets & Inventory

• Managing CAPEX investment orders from creation to capitalization
• Conducting fixed asset counts and maintaining accurate asset records
• Managing inventory valuation, stock movements, and adjustments

Systems, Controls & Compliance

• Ensuring accurate integration of sub-ledgers into SAP
• Promoting and enforcing strong internal controls
• Maintaining proper documentation and ensuring audit readiness
• Supporting compliance with HSEQ policies and One Maestro principles

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce
• CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred
• Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
• Experience in a multinational or oil & gas environment is highly advantageous

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills
• Solid understanding of financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls
