Senior Adminstration and Logistic Officer

CARE International in PNG is looking into recruiting a suitable candidate for a Senior Admin and Logistic Officer role based in Goroka, EHP. CARE is an international development and humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. As a non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development efforts and providing emergency assistance. CARE International in Papua New Guinea has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Agriculture and Health.

The Senior Admin & Logistic Officer supports the Operations Coordinator to ensure that logistics, travel, fleet management and office administration requirements for project implementation are delivered in an efficient, effective and compliant manner. The role will ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the COLAM (Country Office Logistics and Admin Manual), CARE PNG local policies and procedures, and relevant operational standards.

The role is responsible for coordinating travel requests, vehicle and driver schedules, vendor account follow-up, office administration support, supplies and stationery management, records management, and general office support to enable smooth daily operations.

The Senior Admin & Logistic Officer works collaboratively with the Operations Team, including Administration, Procurement, Finance, Safety and Security, and program teams. The role supervises six drivers with technical support from the Operations Coordinator and may be required to travel to support project implementation activities when needed.

This Position has no contact with Children or vulnerable adults. This position has 2 direct reporting lines

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree and/ Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field and/or minimum 3 years relevant work experience in logistics and administration activities, preferably with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and/or private company;
  • Proven experience in logistics, administration, office support, travel coordination, fleet support and basic stores or inventory management;
  • Demonstrated experience in following standard logistics and administration policies, procedures and processes, including maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance requirements;
  • A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities;
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, sound judgment, planning, problem solving and team building skills; honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated organisational, administration and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to contributes to group objectives and work effectively in a group setting;
  • Fluent communication skills in Pidgin and intermediate oral and written English; and
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, with good numeric skills and the ability to maintain trackers, registers and administrative records accurately.
