The Role

Senior Asset Protection Officer

Reporting to the HSEC Manager, the incumbent should be able to drive security and safety of the company’s employees and its assets across site as per WML Security Policy and Guidelines. The role is to provide tactical guidance and oversee the Contractor Security and liaise with Sergeant in command of Woodlark based Police.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Technical accountabilities

• Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
• Ensuring safety KPIs are driven in your area of responsibility.
• Maintain all critical security posts throughout WML properties and the camp.
• Ensure WML employees’ and their properties are protected.
• Ensure fit for purpose and pragmatic approach to the team.
• Ensure the guards perform their duties diligently without fear or favor.
• Ensure the Contracted Security Firm deliver to their contractual obligations.
• Drive Continuous improvement mentality.
• Leading by example and action
• Hold your team accountable for their actions and in-actions.
• Work closely with Lead Driver to manage running of the Manhaul
• Any other tasks as directed by the Immediate Manager.

Scheduling accountabilities

• Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of Woodlark Operations.
• You will take some responsibility to close out action transpiring from KPI inspections from time to time.
• Ensuring you take full responsibility for your team who report through to you and that you delegate tasks appropriately and hold them accountable.
• You will lead by example.
• Ensure that you and your team do not use company resources for personal use.

People accountabilities

• Contributing to an effective team/crew.
• Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
• Ensuring that your team are effectively contributing to WML.
• Ensuring your team drive housekeeping at their respective postings

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required

• Behavior consistent with Geopacific Values
• Leadership capabilities and specialized knowledge in risk management and loss prevention
• At least 5 years experience in similar role with Police/Military background
• Strong communication and investigation skills and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) for reporting and analysis.
• Good understanding of GPR Safety Policy
• Ability to mentor, coach and manage teams combined with strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• High level of integrity, accountability and ability to work under pressure
• A Team Player who is honest and reliable, and a self-starter who can work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of Mine Safety Act is a bonus
