The Role
Reporting to the HSEC Manager, the incumbent should be able to drive security and safety of the Company’s employees and its assets across site as per WML Security Policy and Guidelines. The role is to provide strategic guidance and oversee the Contractor Security for Woodlark Operations.
This is a FIFO position on a 4weeks on, 2 weeks off roster. Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Security teams and assist with the development of operational systems.
- Maintain all critical security posts throughout WML properties and the camp.
- Ensure WML employees’ and their properties are protected.
- Ensure guards perform their duties diligently without fear or favour.
- Ensure the Contracted Security firm delivers to its contractual obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement mentality.
- Preventing unethical, illegal, or improper conduct of employees.
- Assisting in all external security matters including, liaison with Police & civil authorities.
- Initiates investigative procedures to ensure there is no violation of procedures, policies, rules, or regulations.
- Work closely with Lead Driver to manage running of the Manhaul fleet.
Scheduling accountabilities
- Responsibly closing out actions transpiring from KPI inspections from time to time.
- Delegating tasks for your team and hold them accountable for these.
People accountabilities
- Ensuring own work performance meets role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Ensuring your team drives housekeeping at their respective posts.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Behavior consistent with Geopacific Values.
- Leadership capabilities and specialized knowledge in risk management and loss prevention.
- At least 5 years’ experience in similar role with Police/Military background.
- Strong communication and investigation skills and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) for reporting and analysis.
- Ability to mentor, coach and manage teams combined with strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability and ability to work under pressure.
- A Team Player who is honest and reliable, and a self-starter who can work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of Mine Safety Act is a bonus.
