What you’ll do:
This role will provide technical expertise and leadership for timely, high-quality, and safe Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance and installations across the Oil and Gas field, including wellheads, flowlines, processing, and camp facilities.
This position is a 28/28 FIFO roster located in Iagifu Ridge.
Key accountabilities include:
- Maintain turbine-driven compressors, generators, and diesel equipment.
- Manage electrical and instrument maintenance for various fixed and portable systems.
- Plan and execute equipment isolations (high voltage, low voltage, mechanical, and process systems).
- Conduct and report on hazardous area inspections.
- Lead troubleshooting and completion of electrical/instrument tasks.
- Verify maintenance reports, calibrations, and inspection documentation.
- Mentor and train team members and apprentices.
- Drive continuous improvement and support planning reviews.
- Escalate issues and delays to supervisors promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Santos control of work and isolation procedures.
- Oversee work management processes (SAP, materials, timekeeping, closures).
- Uphold Santos values, behaviours, and life-saving rules at all times, setting an example for team members.
- Report all safety, environmental, and operational incidents.
What you’ll bring:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team in a dynamic oil & gas environment. Your high level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to manage complex maintenance tasks in high-risk environments is key, along with:
- Substantial post-trade E&I experience in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
- Extensive experience with Solar Turbines or equivalent engines, compressors, and generators.
- Strong background in maintaining fixed and portable diesel generators, remote power systems, and UPS.
- Hands-on experience with HV & LV electrical systems, including switching.
- Detailed knowledge of E&I maintenance and installations in oil & gas facilities.
- Competence in hazardous area equipment (EEHA) installation, maintenance, and inspection.
- Leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding small teams in high-risk, compliance-driven settings.
Desired qualifications would include HV switching certificate, EEHA 5-day operating and maintaining, and Cert. IV Training and Assessment.
