Senior Legal Officer – Commercial

Our client is seeking an experienced legal professional to join their high-performing team as a Senior Legal Officer – Commercial. This is a permanent opportunity for a capable legal mind who enjoys working across a variety of matters and delivering clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.

As part of the in-house legal team, you’ll provide support across commercial transactions, contract management, risk identification, and corporate governance—helping the organisation navigate legal complexities and drive commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide practical legal advice on a range of corporate and commercial matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
• Support business units with legal input on procurement, partnerships, and governance issues.
• Advise on legal risks and recommend commercially sensible solutions.
• Assist in managing legal and commercial negotiations across key areas of the business.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor of Laws Degree.
• Admitted to practise law in the National and Supreme Courts of Papua New Guinea.
• At least 8 years’ post-admission experience in corporate and commercial law.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in a commercial context.
• Strong drafting skills, with experience preparing legal documents and contracts.
• Confident in conducting legal and commercial negotiations.
• Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented mindset.
