The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Senior Manager – Retail Banking is a key operational and commercial leadership role responsible for driving performance and transformation across retail operations.
You will lead multiple core business functions, including Mobile Banking & Card Services, Branch Operations and the National Agent Network. This role is suited to an experienced retail banking leader who can leverage data, digital technology and commercial insights to develop new products, improve operational efficiency, optimise revenue opportunities and enhance customer experience across Papua New Guinea.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee branch operations, staff performance and retail banking functions to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.
- Drive digital banking growth through Mobile Banking, Card Services and the development of innovative customer solutions.
- Analyse market trends and pricing opportunities to improve competitiveness and maximise revenue growth.
- Lead the growth and performance of the National Agent Network while aligning teams with business objectives.
- Leverage technology and digital systems to streamline processes, improve efficiency and reduce operational backlogs.
- Establish strong reporting practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and operational risk frameworks.
- Develop high-performing teams and promote a customer-focused culture centred on service excellence and accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Banking, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5years’ leadership experience in retail banking, branch operations or microfinance.
- Demonstrated success as a well-rounded retail banking leader with experience across retail sales, credit, recoveries, agent banking and business development.
- Strong ability to leverage digital technology and banking systems to improve operational workflows and develop digital service channels.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams, analyse performance metrics and implement change in fast-paced banking environments.
