Summary:
The Senior Mechanic specializing in heavy equipment is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing a wide range of machinery used in construction, mining, and other industrial sectors. This role requires extensive knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics, as well as a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, excavators, and loaders.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Perform complex repairs and component replacements to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
- Lead and mentor junior mechanics in repair techniques and preventive maintenance of heavy machinery.
- Oversee maintenance records and inventory of parts and supplies for heavy equipment.
- Collaborate with equipment operators to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
- Stay updated on the latest technological advancements in heavy machinery and repair techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and regulations during maintenance and repair operations.
- Coordinate with the management team to plan and schedule maintenance activities and minimize equipment downtime.
- Provide emergency repair services as needed to prevent delays in project timelines.
Job Requirements:
- Advanced diploma or equivalent in mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including hydraulic, electronic, and engine components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for heavy machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and mentor team members effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, with knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency repair requests outside standard working hours.
