Senior Network Systems & Information Security Administrator

The IT Division is seeking to recruit a qualified Senior Network Systems & Information Security Administrator based in Port Moresby. The Senior Network / Systems and Security Administrator is a key leadership role responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations, security, and compliance. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and maintain high standards of service delivery.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  1. System Administration: Responsible for managing and maintaining various IT systems, including servers, workstations, and network devices. This includes installing software updates, configuring security settings, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  2. Incident Management: In the event of IT incidents or outages, leads the response team to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner. They ensure that incident reports are filed accurately and that root causes are identified and addressed to prevent future occurrences.
  3. Change Management: Oversees the implementation of changes to IT systems, ensuring that they are tested thoroughly before deployment to minimize disruption to users. They also manage change requests from end-users and prioritize them based on business impact and urgency.
  4. Capacity Planning: Responsible for monitoring system performance and capacity utilization, identifying trends, and making recommendations for upgrades or additional resources as needed to maintain optimal performance levels.
  5. Security: Ensures that all IT systems are secure by implementing security policies, procedures, and best practices. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses in the organization’s IT infrastructure.
  6. Disaster Recovery: Develops and implements disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in the event of a major incident or disaster. Conduct regular tests of these plans to ensure their effectiveness.
  7. Training: Provides training and support to end-users on various IT systems and applications, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their jobs effectively.
  8. Budget Management: Manages the budget for the IT department’s operations, including hardware purchases, software licenses, maintenance contracts, and other expenses related to maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure.
  9. Vendor Management: Manages relationships with external vendors providing services related to the organization’s IT infrastructure, including hardware suppliers, software vendors, and service providers such as internet service providers (ISPs).
  10. Documentation:Maintains accurate documentation of all aspects of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including system configurations, change logs, incident reports, disaster recovery plans, security policies, and vendor contracts.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Relevant professional qualification at graduate level
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience of developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a managing an IT infrastructure
