Job Vacancy: Senior Payroll Officer

Job Summary:

Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for managing the payroll function for all employees of NWTL Group and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The role involves managing the full payroll cycle, support by other members of HR Payroll team. Along with executing the everyday payroll function in line with the appropriate awards, the role is responsible for developing best payroll solutions through providing recommendations to enhance payroll management system upgrades and training staff on best practice payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

  • Manage the entire payroll cycle (end to end payroll processes), including data entry, tax deduction, superannuation, long service leaves and ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and company regulations.

Compliance:

  • Staying up to date with payroll related legislations, awards, agreements and company policies, and ensuring that payroll practices adhere to these standards.

System Management:

  • Maintaining and updating the payroll system, troubleshooting issues, and implementing new functions.

Team Support:

  • Providing guidance and support to the backup payroll officer, ensuring consistent practices and accurate processing.

Collaboration:

  • Interacting with various stakeholders, including employees and managers to address payroll related queries and provide accurate information.

Report and Analysis:

  • Preparing payroll reports, journals, and reconciliations for finance and management, and conduct audits to ensure data accuracy.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identifying area for improvement in payroll processes and contributing to the development of new procedures and documentation.
  • Ensuring accuracy in employment records, running payroll systems and generating report.
  • Administering employee entitlements and providing pay slips.
  • Processing deductions such as superannuation, tax and staff advance.
  • Providing support and guidance to staff regarding payroll processes.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a payroll role, preferably in a senior role.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to handler sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in payroll software Pronto ERP System highly preferred.
  • Proficient in MS office suit, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislations and regulations.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and dependability.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and able to work collaboratively with diverse team.
  • Able to provide guidance, coaching and support to backup payroll officers, ensuring consistent practices and accurate processing.
