Role Purpose:The primary role of the Systems Administrator (Linux) is the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organisation’s Linux-based infrastructure. This role involves managing servers, ensuring system stability and performance, implementing security measures, and providing technical leadership to the IT infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Collaboration – Lead and coordinate teams to ensure efficient and reliable IT infrastructure operations.
- Infrastructure Operations – Manage servers, storage, virtualisation, patching, security, incidents, vulnerabilities, configuration and capacity.
- Data Centre Management – Oversee primary data centre operations, security and operational efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery & Continuity – Manage backup, recovery, DR operations, testing and readiness.
- Compliance & Documentation – Maintain SOPs, policies, IT controls, change management and regulatory compliance.
Required Experience
- Strong understanding of IT, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise data centre environments.
- Proven expertise in infrastructure security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, virtualisation and cloud platforms.
- Experience with security tools including firewalls, IDS/IPS and SIEM.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in team-based environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Relevant certifications desirable (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in systems administration, ideally within banking or financial services.
