Job Summary:

The Senior Underwriter is responsible for assessing, evaluating and underwriting general insurance risks in line with company policies, underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. The role supports the Underwriting Manager in managing the underwriting portfolio, improving risk quality and contributing to business growth through sound underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate general insurance risks including motor, property, liability and other general insurance classes.
• Monitor and review existing policies for renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
• Identify trends in claims and losses and recommend corrective actions.
• Work closely with claims and finance teams to ensure alignment on risk and pricing.
• Work with the Business Development Manager to assess risks for new clients.
• Provide technical underwriting support to brokers, agents and clients.
• Assist in developing competitive insurance products and pricing strategies.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations and best practices.
• Prepare underwriting reports

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management or a related field or equivalent level of insurance experience.
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., ANZIIF, CIP, ACII) is an advantage
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in underwriting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience in managing general insurance portfolios (property, motor, liability, etc.).
• Strong understanding of insurance market dynamics, risk assessment and pricing models.
