About the role
Joining our Underground Mining team you will be an integral part of K92’s Mine Control Centre (MCC). The SIC Officer will assist the Shift Supervisors and Mine Coordinators throughout the shift to optimse the outcomes in line with the weekly plan, using the information flowing through the MCC and the use of the live Deswik.OPS Gantt mine schedule.
The SIC Officer will collaborate with the Supervisors throughout the shift, guiding them on opportunities, status updates from the MCC, coordinating requirements from technical services and generally assisting wherever possible.
The SIC officer will prepare a draft 36-hour shift plan for the Supervisors in readiness for the shift hand over, manage Deswik.OPS live weekly schedules, maintain compliance to plan dashboards and have daily reports prepared with validated data.
In addition, the SIC Officer will be required to identify data driven improvement opportunities, using PowerBI dashboards and analytics of the data recorded into Deswik.OPS.
Key Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Ensure all personnel, contractors and visitors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements.
- Ensure work is planned so it can be conducted safely, with consideration for environmental conditions, nearby activities, people, and other resources needed to complete the work.
- Ensure housekeeping activities within and around the work area are performed to a high standard.
- Actively promote a safety first, zero harm culture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HSE, Supervisors, Coordinators, Superintendents, MTS personnel, Mine Controllers) to support the Mining Supervisor to execute their responsibilities on a shift-by-shift basis.
- Promote a data-driven continuous improvement by reviewing Power BI dashboards and completing data analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain, in real time the Deswik.OPS Gantt schedule through the shift to weekly time horizons,
- Collaborate with the Mine Supervisors across the mine radio to prepare a detail 36-hour shift plan for review in each shift planning meeting.
- Provide Supervisors with any mobile equipment status changes because of either Planned or Breakdown maintenance
- In consultation with the underground supervisors, provide the Mobile Maintenance teams with clear priorities for break down repairs.
- Inform the Supervisor of upcoming planning conflicts based on the live shift progress (on the Deswik.OPS Gantt), to proactive make changes throughout the shift, optimising the shift plan.
- Coordinate with the Underground Supervisors to ensure shotcrete orders and delivery time frames are managed to achieve the shift and weekly objectives
- Coordinate with the stores department to ensure consumables are available for the mining team to deliver the plan
- Maintain the compliance to plan control charts (Development, Production, Slot Drilling) on the muster room dashboards, meeting rooms and daily reports
- Maintain the end of week forecast of mining key physicals
- The SIC Officer will maintain a dashboard and memo register to clearly identifying the upcoming requirement for development designs and survey control
- Maintain KPI’s on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as defined in the K92 MOS
- Produce delay Pareto charts each day, week and month to understand key operational improvement opportunities
- Use the Deswik.OPS data and Power BI to identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Use the Deswik.OPS data and Power BI to produce reports which measure the success of current CI projects.
- Escalate delays through the K92 MOS escalation TARP as required
About You
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in underground mining, with an in depth understanding of the mining cycle
- Preferably tertiary qualifications in a Mining related field
- High level of computer literacy in MS Office suite and data management
- High degree of analytical, planning and scheduling skills
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with wide range of disciplines on site
- Experience in directing, monitoring and adjusting shift plans and reports
- Experience in Deswik Software or Similar
