Job Title: Side-Lift Truck Driver

Job Purpose

To safely drive and manoeuvre container trucks (20/40 swing side lifts & 20/40 flatbeds) to designated locations in and around LAE. This includes timely delivery, collection, and movement of containers while complying with local road regulations and company and client’s transport procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Transport

• Safely operate and drive a 20/40 swing side lifts & 20/40 flatbeds truck within Lae and surrounding areas.
• Transport containers to and from customer sites, depots, ports, and warehouses.
• Conduct route planning to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
• Comply with PNG, traffic rules, and speed limits.
• Secure loads correctly to prevent movement or damage during transit.

Vehicle Care

• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report any mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance needs immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle (fluids, tyres, lights, fuel).

Documentation & Communication

• Complete delivery notes, container logs, and trip sheets accurately.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and side-lift operators.
• Follow customer site procedures, including access rules and safety requirements.

Safety Compliance

• Adhere to company safety standards, fatigue management rules, and PPE requirements.
• Report hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly.
• Contribute to a safe working culture across job sites.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid heavy-vehicle driver’s license (Class 4) in LAE.
• 3-4 years and above experience in truck driving; container transport preferred.
• Familiarity with Lae routes and traffic regulations is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Safe, responsible driving.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Ability to follow route plans and adjust to schedule changes.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
