Summary

  • Acting as the project's leader on the ground, the point of contact for workers, subcontractors, and any site visitors.

  • Site Manager is responsible for the overall execution and delivery of all aspects of project execution, ensuring efficient site operations and construction quality in accordance with approved designs, quality standards and project schedules.

  • The role should prioritize strong hands-on construction execution, workforce leadership, cost discipline, safety management, and the ability to resolve technical and operational problems independently.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Site Operations & Projects Executions
- Oversee daily construction activities and ensure projects schedules and milestones are met.
- Lead and supervise site personnel, subcontractors, and construction teams to achieve productivity targets.
- Monitor workforce performance, discipline, and resolve on-site technical and operational issues to minimize delays and disruptions.
- Track construction progress, identify critical delays, and implement corrective actions.

2. Manpower & Resource Management
- Allocate manpower, equipment, and resources efficiently according to project requirements.
- Maintain safe and organised inventory storage on sites to reduce shrinkage from theft, misplacement, or weather damage.
- Monitor construction costs, material consumption, labor expenses, and subcontractor claims against project budgets.
- Control material wastage, prevent unnecessary expenditure, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

3. Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce site safety standards, occupational health requirements, and environmental protection practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety briefings, and risk assessments to prevent accidents and unsafe working conditions.
- Ensure proper site housekeeping, waste management, and compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.

4. Design, Technical & Quality Assurance
- Ensure construction works comply with approved architectural, structural, and M&E drawings, technical specifications, and building regulations.
- Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and authorities to resolve design discrepancies and obtain necessary technical approvals.
- Monitor construction quality at every stage, from foundation and structural works to architectural finishes and final handover.
- Implement inspection procedures and ensure defects and non-conformance issues are rectified promptly.

5. Project Coordination & Progress Reporting
- Act as the first point of contact for project stakeholders and site visitors to resolve project-related matters.
- Conduct regular site meetings to monitor progress, address issues, and coordinate tasks.
- Prepare regular progress reports covering site performance, manpower, costs, safety, technical issues, and project risks.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 7-10 years experience in managing successful project construction.
  • Proven track record of full-lifecycle and strong hands-on construction execution.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • First aid training and health and safety qualifications relevant to the construction industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong documentation and analytical skills in preparing regular site reporting updates.

Others

The role will be based on the project site and must be prepared to deal with all the physical conditions of an active construction environment. This includes exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and dust. The role may involve standing for long periods and some heavy lifting. Safety is of utmost importance, so the manager will always be expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all site personnel adhere to safety protocols. The job may require working outside of standard office hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet project demands or to address any urgent issues that arise.

Indoor and outdoor, and adapt to changing weather conditions.

May need to travel between different sites and office when required.
