We are seeking a competent and flexible individual to fill the vacant position of Spatial Technology Supervisor. This position is based in Kimbe, West New Britain Province and reports to the Spatial Technology Manager.

SPATIAL TECHNOLOGY SUPERVISOR

Job Purpose:

The Spatial Technology Supervisor is responsible for operating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) within NBPOL, ensuring all flight activities are planned and executed in full compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also includes managing data transfer and processing to deliver accurate outputs on schedule.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual work plans supported by monthly progress reporting.
  • Design, programme, and operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flights.
  • Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
  • Coordinate with manned aircraft operators and relevant authorities during UAV operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of photogrammetry and LiDAR outputs.
  • Deliver spatial data outputs in appropriate and usable formats.
  • Prepare analytical reports based on processed data.
  • Carry out blueprint mapping activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all UAV flight operations.
  • Manage and update the asset register for all tools, equipment, and consumables.
  • Maintain an up-to-date UAV maintenance database.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in fields related to agriculture, forestry, GIS, GPS, UAV, Remote Sensing, Data Management, or similar relevant fields.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience working within the natural resource sector using GIS and Remote Sensing as a tool.
  • Experience with GIS software such as Agisoft Metashape Professional and ArcGIS Pro is essential.
  • Communication, report writing, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Excellent skills with MS Excel & MS Word are essential.
  • Valid Class 6 driver’s license is essential.
