ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 38 years. Today we are one of the largest business schools in the country and off degree programmes in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 12 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

Our success is the fruits of our dedicated team committed to making a difference in Papua New Guinea, through their efforts to help educate current and futures citizens on Papua New Guinea.

The Student Life Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. You will be responsible for organizing student activities, supporting student organizations, and ensuring students have access to resources that enhance their personal and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Engagement & Activities: Plan and coordinate student events, clubs, and extracurricular activities to promote engagement.
  • Advisory & Support: Provide guidance to student organizations and leaders, ensuring they have the tools to succeed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to develop programs that support student success.
  • Orientation & Training: Organize orientation sessions and workshops for new students and student leaders.
  • Crisis Management: Assist with student conduct issues and enforce campus policies.
  • Marketing & Communication: Develop strategies to promote student life activities through various communication channels.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budgets for student programs and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Community Outreach: Build relationships with local organizations to create service-learning opportunities.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and wellness through events and educational initiatives
  • Collect feedback and assess the impact of programs on student satisfaction and engagement.
  • Taking departmental meeting minutes
  • Publishing articles on website on post-events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience in student affairs, event planning, or leadership development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive student environment.
