About the role
This role will be:
Reporting to the Manager – Operational Services, the primary purpose of the Superintendent – Facilities is to oversee and manage all Operational Services maintenance activities across the K92 camp, plant and mine site. A focus is to ensure best practices so that the safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity of work are assured.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
1. Technical support
- Providing leadership to the Site Services team to provide effective maintenance activities throughout the site.
- Managing resources to maintain and enhance critical equipment performance and availability.
- Analysing operational performance and identifying trends for proactive response and potential cost savings.
- Implementing actions to optimize maintenance process performance and attain efficiency targets in the areas of labour productivity, equipment utilization, and material consumption.
- Investigating special projects and making recommendations.
- Eliciting Safety, Health & Risk awareness at all times and ensure adherence to safety and loss control standards; and
- Establishing and maintaining sound working relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates. Perform troubleshooting to identify and remedy issues that may arise.
- Planning
- Support and assist the planning team to ensure the rectification of identified defect equipment to improve and optimise availability and reliability targets.
- Reliability and Condition Monitoring
- Work closely with the Co-ordinator site services to assess performance and identify improvement projects to maximise results, reduce risk and implement cost management initiatives.
- Improve capability of Site Services Team members and technician capability in general.
- Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance.
- Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.
- Direct and assist to train employees so they are able to up skill in their respective field.
- Continuously mentor and coach technicians on effective repair techniques.
- Identify skills gaps and training requirements and assist in developing training packages as required to close the skills gap.
- Coordinate, monitor and assist with the delivery of training to employees.
- Actively review the work performance of technicians and provide feedback to the area supervisors including the talent and succession planning for designated key roles.
- Safety
- Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
- Able to development and implement Safe Work Procedures and Maintenance Schedules to promote safe work procedures and operation of equipment.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have some or all the following.
- Engineering Degree such as Mechanical/Civil//Electrical/Project Management, Engineering Diploma, or relevant Trades Qualifications designation with ten (10) years related experience, preferably in Mining or Construction industry.
- Five (5) years relevant operations experience in the mining industry in a supervisory capacity, plus two (2) years in a project management capacity.
- Ability to prove your commitment to Safety, Health, & Risk, and Environment standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; and
- Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment is an asset.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
- Experience in the use of Pronto will be advantageous.
- Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
