Your Impact
As Supervisor, Jaw Crushing, you will provide frontline leadership to ensure crushing operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in line with operational standards while achieving production targets.
You will play a critical role in strengthening safety culture, building team capability, and driving continuous improvement across the operation.
Your leadership will influence workforce engagement, operational reliability, and the successful delivery of production outcomes, while helping embed Newmont's values and standards throughout the team.
As part of our team, you will
• Lead and coordinate daily crushing activities to safely deliver production plans and operational targets.
• Champion Newmont's safety culture through visible leadership, field interactions, workplace inspections, and proactive risk management.
• Coach, mentor, and develop operators and permit personnel to build capability and strengthen team performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and team engagement.
• Coordinate closely with maintenance, safety, control room, and operational teams to optimise plant performance.
• Manage workforce deployment, shift coverage, and effective communication between crews.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Participate in incident investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions and learning opportunities.
• Foster a positive, accountable culture where people are empowered to speak up, contribute ideas, and stop unsafe work.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
We're looking for a leader who combines strong operational experience with a genuine commitment to safety and people development
You will bring:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in crushing, mineral processing, milling, or a similar mining environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or frontline leadership position.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a high-risk operational environment.
- A strong safety mindset and proven ability to influence positive safety behaviours.
- Experience coordinating operational activities and managing competing priorities.
- Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience using operational systems and software such as SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to build credibility through visibility, accountability, and leading by example.
- Experience within large-scale mining or processing operations will be highly regarded.
Your work environment
This role is offered on a 28:14 Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea.
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp environment, with ensuite, air-conditioned accommodation equipped with a mini fridge, television and Wi-Fi. A variety of nutritious meal options are available through the on-site catering facilities, while recreational and social amenities provide opportunities to relax and connect with colleagues while on roster.
You'll work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Support Services, and Control Room teams while leading a diverse workforce focused on safe and reliable plant performance. This role offers opportunities to broaden your operational knowledge, gain exposure to permit and isolation processes, and develop skills that can support future progression into broader leadership and advisory opportunities.
